How much does a magician cost in 2026? The numbers, no runaround.

I've been a magician since 2006, and this is the guide I wish my clients had found before they called me. I publish my prices, and I'll walk you through the rest of the market too.

George Gache - FunBoy MagiComedy, holding a deck of cards in front of his eyes
Yes, that's me. The cards are real, and so are the prices below.

The short answer: in Romania, in 2026, a magician costs between 550 and 1500 Romanian lei at entry level (usually kids parties) and between €300 and €3000+ at premium level - magicians with TV experience, a corporate portfolio and a show of their own. My prices sit in that second range, and below I'll show you exactly what they're made of.

Why write this at all? Because “request a quote” with no figure anywhere on the site - the market standard - is a waste of time for both of us. You don't know whether we're in the same budget, and I end up answering emails that go nowhere. I prefer transparency: if the figure looks high, at least you know why, and you also know what you get for 550 lei.

My prices, published

The price depends on the type of event - a kids show is one thing, a corporate gala is another - plus the number of guests and the complexity of the moment (if you want something built specifically for you, the figure goes up). But it doesn't swing wildly, and there's no reason for it to be a secret. These are the real figures, the same ones you'll find in the configurator:

Type of eventMicroMagic (close-up among the guests)MagiComedy stage show (35-40 min)Combo (show + 1h of close-up)
Kids party-€450-
Wedding / private event€300/hr€750€950 (you save €100)
Corporate / galas€350/hr€1000€1250 (you save €100)
Custom / branded momentstarts from the corporate rates; depending on complexity, it can reach €3000+

MicroMagic is booked for a minimum of 2 hours, or bundled with the show. Prices in EUR, VAT not included, valid for Bucharest. Everything in the open: with a contract and an invoice, through Funktastic S.R.L. (RO36582805). For travel outside the city there is a charge of €0.3 per km driven; beyond 2 hours from Bucharest, accommodation is also arranged. The show can be performed in Romanian or English.

And then there's the guarantee: you book with a 35% deposit - which I refund in full if anything goes wrong on my side - and the remaining 65% is paid after the show, only if your guests were entertained. A booking needs security on both sides; the fun stays 100% my responsibility. Since 2006, across 1000+ events, this guarantee hasn't cost me a single show yet - but clients sleep better with it.

The market, honestly: what you get at each price level

550–800 lei - entry level

Usually magicians who specialise in kids parties, with classic routines and off-the-shelf props. For a 7-year-old's birthday, honestly, that may be exactly what you need. For a room of 150 adults at the company party - no. An adult audience spots a trick they've already seen on YouTube within 30 seconds.

800–1500 lei - mid-range

Performers with real experience, often very good technically, but without a stage show of their own - they deliver close-up or a string of unconnected routines. That works well at small private parties, where you don't need a “centrepiece moment”.

Above 1500 lei (€300–3000+) - premium

Here you're paying for something else: a show of their own (not tricks, but original routines built over years), experience with difficult corporate audiences - a tired room at the end of a conference is a different sport from a crowd that bought theatre tickets - verifiable proof (TV, brands, international events) and the boring but essential infrastructure: contract, invoice, backup equipment, punctuality. At the very top of the Romanian market (performers famous from national TV), prices go even beyond this range.

The 5 factors that change the figure

  1. The format. Close-up is priced by the hour; a stage show, per performance. The show costs more because it's a finished product: a scripted arc, my own props, routines tested on hundreds of audiences.
  2. The number of guests. With close-up it matters directly: I cover ~100 people an hour, in groups of 5-15. With 200 guests you need 2 hours, not one.
  3. Travel. Bucharest is the list price; elsewhere in the country, transport is charged per kilometre and, beyond 2 hours on the road, accommodation is added. An event in Cluj, across the country, can't cost the same as one in Otopeni, right next to Bucharest.
  4. The date. Saturdays from May to October and the whole of November-December (corporate Christmas parties) get booked 2-3 months ahead. My price doesn't go up in peak season, but availability disappears - which, economically, comes to the same thing.
  5. Personalisation. Moments built around the company's brand or the story of the person being celebrated take extra hours of preparation. With the Combo package, pre-event consultancy is included.

When a magician is NOT worth the money

Yes, this exists too, and I'd rather tell you myself than let you find out at your own expense:

  • Under 20 guests - a stage show is overkill. An hour of close-up can still make sense, but honestly: with 15 people, a long table at a good restaurant does half the job on its own.
  • The schedule is already full - if between the second course and the cake you've got a dance troupe, fireworks and a candy bar with its own show, one more act doesn't add anything, it dilutes. Pick one or two memorable things, not five.
  • You want “background” - magic is interactive by definition. If you want something that runs quietly while people eat, book a musician, not a magician.

The questions that save you from surprises

They apply to any performer, me included. These aren't lessons - they're exactly the questions I'd ask if I were in your shoes:

  • “Can you show me a video of real reactions, not only tricks?” A trick can be learned from YouTube in a weekend. The face of someone whose wedding ring has just vanished - that can't be staged.
  • “Do you work with a contract and an invoice?” If what follows is a long pause and a “well…”, congratulations: you've just found out where that friendly price came from.
  • “What happens if it doesn't go well?” Worth asking for the look on their face alone. (With me the answer is boringly simple: the remaining 65% stays with you.)
  • “Have you worked with an audience like mine?” 6-year-olds, a worn-out board at 23:00, a wedding with three generations at one table - these are different sports. You can be a champion at one and pull a muscle at another.

If, after all these numbers, you want to see what it looks like for your event: the configurator gives you the final price on the spot, and for companies I've written separately about what works at corporate events and what other entertainment options are out there - including the ones that aren't me.

Frequently asked questions about pricing

How much does a magician cost in Romania in 2026?
Between 550 and 1500 lei for entry-level magicians (usually kids parties) and between €300 and €3000+ for premium magicians with TV experience and a corporate portfolio. The price depends on the format (close-up vs a stage show), duration, number of guests and travel.
How much does a magician cost for a company party?
At premium level: €700 for close-up at the cocktail (2-hour minimum), €1000 for a 35-40 minute stage show, up to €1250 for a full package (show + an hour of close-up among the guests). Custom/branded moments can reach €3000+. Prices in EUR excluding VAT, with a contract and an invoice; booking with a 35% refundable deposit, the rest after the show.
How much does a wedding magician cost?
A little below corporate: €600 for MicroMagic between the tables (2-hour minimum), €750 for the stage show, €950 for the full package. At weddings, close-up is recommended between courses - exactly the moments when guests get bored.
Why do prices vary so much between magicians?
You're paying for, in this order: experience (how many events they've delivered), the format (an original stage show vs bought tricks), verifiable social proof (TV, brands, reviews) and the guarantees (contract, invoice, payment policy). A magician at 550 lei and one at €1250 aren't selling the same product.
